Biography
Dave is the Fire Marshal for Idaho National Laboratory. He is a graduate of the University of Idaho, where he received a BS in Mechanical Engineering (1989) and a MS in Interdisciplinary Studies (1999), focusing on fire protection. He is a registered professional engineer, in the discipline of fire protection engineering.
In 1990, he started his career at the INL as a mechanical engineer, but after two years transitioned to fire protection engineering. Since that time, he has enjoyed a 30+ year career in this field and has been involved in many interesting projects, including building construction, demolition and renovation; fire testing of commodities; fire hazards analyses; fire and explosion investigations; and dust hazard assessments. Dave is a fellow of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers. He serves on four NFPA committees, as a principal member, and currently serves on the SFPE Committee on Membership and Chapter Relations. He is past president of the Snake River Valley chapter for the Society of Fire Protection Engineers.
When not working, Dave likes to stay active playing soccer with fellow “vintage/classic” players. He remains active in a local scout troop organizing and participating in various outdoor activities such as weekend backpacking trips, 50-milers, snow shoeing, and snow caving. Every September he meets up with friends and family to attend the National Championship Air Races.
